63 destinations : Bratislava Airport with its most extensive summer flight schedule in history
Bratislava Airport in Slovakia is rolling out the largest summer flight program in its history, effective March 29, offering travelers an unprecedented range of options.
The airport will operate 77 scheduled routes to 63 destinations across 29 countries, marking a significant expansion compared to last year, underlining the airport’s growing role as a regional gateway. As Vienna airport experiences a shrinking of its destinations served by low-cost airlines, Bratislava is emerging as the new favorite for budget carriers. The best example of Bratislava appeal was Wizz Air’s transfer of its flights from Vienna last year. Slovakia capital’s airport is indeed an hour away by car or train from Vienna.
According to airport CEO Dušan Novota, the 77 scheduled routes represent a record and nearly double the 39 routes available last summer, when passengers could reach 36 destinations in 17 countries. The current offering is the most extensive in the airport’s 75-year history, reflecting strong demand and airline confidence in the Slovak market.
Wizz air competing head-to-head with Ryanair
As mentioned, a key driver of this growth is Wizz Air, which is introducing 13 new routes for the season. Nine routes launched in March, including Berlin, Dortmund, Nice, Ohrid, Pristina, Rome Fiumicino, Tirana, Tuzla, and Warsaw Chopin. Three additional destinations—Podgorica, Tel Aviv, and Mykonos—will follow later in the summer.
Meanwhile, Ryanair is adding three new services to Pisa, Tirana, and Warsaw Modlin, further strengthening its presence.
The expanded network offers a wide selection of summer leisure destinations. Travelers can access popular Mediterranean hotspots such as the Greek islands of Mykonos and Skiathos, Nice on the French Riviera, and Zadar on Croatia’s coast. Spain is well represented with routes to Malaga, Alicante, and Barcelona, while Italy features destinations including Lamezia Terme, Sicily, and Sardinia. Additional options include Bulgaria’s Varna and Burgas, as well as Cyprus, among others.
In total, Bratislava Airport will offer scheduled flights to 29 countries, the broadest geographic coverage in its history. Destinations span across Europe and beyond, including the United Kingdom, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, and Norway, alongside a domestic Slovak route.
Seven airlines will operate scheduled services this summer, led by Ryanair with 33 routes and Wizz Air with 32. Other carriers include Smartwings, Pegasus Airlines, Air Cairo, SunExpress Airlines, and Air Montenegro. SunExpress will debut at the airport with flights to Antalya, while Air Montenegro resumes service to Podgorica after a two-year hiatus.
Last year, Bratislava recorded 2,438,215 passengers, a historical high, up by 25% over 2024. Total passengers surged by 127% in January and by 151% in February, predicting a new peak for 2026…
