70 tourists trapped over Barcelona
Fire teams had to rescue 70 tourists trapped on a cable car above Barcelona on New Year’s Day.
The Montjuic Teleferico cable car stopped due to a mechanical failure and tourists travelling in 14 cars had to wait until fire crews arrived.
Four of the passengers had to be evacuated by crane, although the rest were able to leave on foot.
According to EuroWeeklyNews, the service will be closed for at least two days while an investigation takes place into the cause of the problem.
The cable car takes tourists over the Olympic Stadium and the San Jordi Palace.
