$750,000 campaign to boost Hunter tourism
Bob Baldwin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, today praised the ‘Hunter Heart’ which has seen the people of the region join together to rebuild after the devastating floods in the Hunter region this year.
Launching a $750,000 tourism campaign aimed at encouraging tourists to return to the region, Mr Baldwin said the Hunter had had more than its fair share of nature showing who was boss.
The campaign includes $300,000 in Australian Government funding.
“In a short space of time we have gone from drought to flood to snow storms.” “And no matter what natures delivers, the Hunter Heart always continues to deliver quality tourism experiences,” Mr Baldwin said.
“After the floods, one of the areas to be greatly affected was tourism.” “Images of the Hunter awash were seen on screens nationally and internationally.”
“But while all this was going on, the Australian Government was already working to help the region regroup and reinvigorate its critical tourism industry.” “One of the first steps has been the granting of $300 000 in funds to help get Hunter tourism back on its feet.”
“We want to let potential visitors know that the Hunter remains open for business and ready to welcome tourists from around the country and the world.”
A project team, with representation from key stakeholders including the Hunter Regional Tourism Organisation, Tourism NSW and Tourism Australia had developed a campaign to inspire Australians to experience all of the delights the region has to offer.
“I am pleased to announce the project team has developed a campaign with print, online and television executions showcasing the Hunter region and offering special deals that are too good to miss,” he said.
“The Hunter has so much diversity – in the Barrington Tops, the Upper Hunter, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley – this campaign will show”.
“The messages you will be hearing on television and seeing in print are ‘There’s no place like the Hunter and No better time to visit’.
For those wanting to get away from it all the slogan, “You will feel a million miles away in the Hunter”, will certainly appeal.
“The Australian Government is proud to help fund this campaign which exemplifies the heart and spirit which makes this region so very special.”
