About U Travel gears up for launch

Monday, 12 May, 2009 0

A new online long-haul travel agent is due to launch later this Spring.

About U Travel will sell accommodation and tours across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, India and the Indian Ocean Islands, both through independent agents and directly to the public.

Visitors to the website, www.about-u-travel.com, can personalise their trip by selecting the various elements of their holiday and adding them to a shopping basket.

“IT has moved so quickly and has completely changed the way people book their trips,” said managing director Lynda Woodin.

“I recognised the need for an online, shopping basket system that allows consumers and agents to put together personalised trips. This type of technology is already widely used by retail giants, such as Amazon, and I believe it is the way forward for tourism.”

About U Travel has offices in London and Malaga and will work closely with partners in the regions featured.

“Personal knowledge of a country is key, so we are constantly travelling to the regions we specialise in to research the tours and keep up to date with the accommodation we offer,” added Woodin.

“Although we are launching at a difficult time in the industry’s history, we are confident that About U Travel fills a gap in the long-haul market and will take tailor-made travel to a new level.”
