ABTA seeks solution after collapse of Training for Travel
ABTA is in talks with People 1st about finding a replacement for Training for Travel, which went into administration earlier this month.
Up to 1,200 trainees are believed to have been affected by the demise of the training company, which was about to be sold to another training provider.
Training for Travel, which was set up in 1997, lost £3 million in government funding and was forced to go into administration, putting 55 people out of work.
"ABTA was saddened to hear that Training for Travel had gone into administration," said an ABTA spokesman.
"It provided a very valuable service for many trainees. ABTA is currently looking into possible solution with People 1st and will provide more information as soon as it is available."
Agents had posted their concerns on the Facebook page Travel Gossip.
Graeme Brett, of Westoe Travel South Shields, said there does not appear to be a training provider that provides training for agents with an approved certification at the end.
