ABTA ties up with the Telegraph
Daily Telegraph publisher Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has become the lead sponsor of this year’s ABTA Travel Convention.
The newspaper’s ninth annual travel awards will be held at the Tenerife convention in November.
The association believes hosting the awards will widen attendance at the convention, attract industry leaders and create an even greater opportunity for delegate networking.
ABTA and TMG have agreed to work closely together over the next year on a range of travel activities, encompassing ABTA roadshows, the ABTA and Convention websites, Telegraph Travel and Telegraph Online.
ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer said: “The relationship between ABTA and Telegraph Media Group will ensure that the convention’s business sessions will have a strong consumer relevance, and the input of consumer views.
“For ABTA to have such a strong national media partner will enhance consumer awareness of the ABTA brand and what ABTA does, which will help drive consumers towards our members.
“Positioning ABTA at the centre of the broad range of travel issues covered by the Telegraph Media Group will also reinforce our position as The Travel Association, maintaining the association’s relevance and helping us to expand our membership.”
TMG director Sarah Newton said: “As a company that is already reaching wider audiences through new digital platforms, Telegraph Media Group is ideally placed to help ABTA achieve its goals.
“With readers who spend more on holidays than the readers of any other quality daily newspaper, and the UK’s most visited quality newspaper website, ABTA could not have a more appropriate and valuable media partner.”
