ABTA voted to increase the potential number of members on its Board from nine to 12 at its Annual General Meeting.

The additional directors must be Members of ABTA and will be appointed by the existing Board members.

It is also now welcoming nominations for the position of ABTA president, with a deadline of May 29.

Details of eligibility, the nomination process and voting can be found at www.abta.com.

The association is in the process of joining forces with the Federation of Tour Operators.

From July 1, the FTO will become a formal Committee of the ABTA Board.

Mark Tanzer will retain the role of ABTA chief executive officer and Andy Cooper will retain his role and title as director general of FTO and IFTO.

Cooper will also become ABTA head of development, leading the development of strategic partnerships for the whole organisation.
