Accor helps to connect the unconnected kids
JAKARTA – An anonymous Australian benefactor has donated two ex corporate laptop computers (out of a total of 10), to the Mercure Pontianak in Indonesia to share with the children of the local Alma Sister Catholic orphanage.
General manager of the Mercure Pontianak, Ardi Wilson, said, “Accor Hotels, along with the same benefactor, have done this before in Bali, but for Pontianak it is a first.
“These children are abandoned and it is heartbreaking to see how little they get by with.â€
Mercure Pontianak staff will assist with tutoring and Internet connections so the kids can get working straight away.
Mercure Pontianak is located in the capital of West Kalimantan, (Indonesian Borneo), and lies exactly on the equatorial line – at the delta of the Kapuas River – the longest river in Indonesia.
Accor also runs its successful “A Tree for a Child†programme throughout Indonesia to support local communities – in particular disadvantaged children.
