Cambridge, 13 October 2004: Active Hotels, one of Europe’s leading online hotel reservations providers, has been ranked by the Sunday Times amongst the 100 fastest growing technology companies. The award follows the recent investment of $161 million in Active Hotels by priceline.com, one of the leading brands in on-line travel in the US. The annual ‘Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100’ league table ranks the UK’s one hundred unquoted technology companies with the fastest-growing sales. Andy Phillipps, CEO, Active Hotels stated ”Over the last 12 months, we processed over $160 million of reservations. Maintaining market leading growth rates at such a scale of business is a huge achievement and one which we are exceedingly proud of. We hope and expect that the purchase by priceline.com will enable us to continue our rapid expansion, as well as enhance our product portfolio for hotels, websites and consumers.” This award is the latest in a succession of accolades for Active Hotels, which include winner of the Deloitte & Touche fastest growing British Technology company in 2003, the Ernst and Young 2003 Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year (awarded to CEO Andy Phillipps); and earlier this year, a ranking in the Sunday Times top 50 ‘Best small companies’ to work for in the UK. -End- Notes for editors: About the league table Now in its fourth year, The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 annual league table, sponsored by Microsoft for the first time this year, is compiled by Oxford-based research company Fast Track and published with The Sunday Times business section on 3 October 2004 and on www.fasttrack.co.uk.
