Advantage Travel chief responds to travel industry skills shortage
Julia Lo Bue-Said, CEO of The Advantage Travel Partnership has responded to issues raised by the tourism minister over skills shortage for the sector.
Minister Sir John Whittingdale said officials are working on educational and skills reform and developing a youth mobility scheme.
“It’s a route by which we hope we can address the skills shortage,” he said.
Julia Lo Bue-Said says: “The comments are very welcome. Advantage’s Global Business Travel Review looked at travel recruitment as a driving force in the industry.”
“Companies need to meet the work-life balance requirements by offering hybrid working along with competitive salaries.”
“At Advantage we recently announced our own partnership with AS Training to invest in bringing new talent,” she said.
It has set a target of 50 new apprenticeships working at member companies within the next 12 months.
“As a member of the Tourism Industry Council, I am looking forward to helping shape the outcome of the educational and skills reform,” she added.
