AEG Ogden looks to India
MELBOURNE – International venue management specialist AEG Ogden is set to expand its activities into India.
Geoff Donaghy, group director, convention centres, said the Middle East and India were two regions with enormous potential.
He said the company was in an advanced stage of discussions with venues in India which, he said, is “an amazing, untapped area”.
“There is a significant internal meetings industry in India and places like New Delhi and other cities are ripe with potential.”
Donaghy said AEG Ogden expected to make an announcement about its activities in India “within months if not weeks”.
AEG Ogden currently manages convention centres in Brisbane, Cairns, Kuala Lumpur and Darwin, as well as Qatar, which is currently under construction.
Newly appointed general manager for the Qatar National Convention Centre, Paul D’Arcy said that a key priority for Qatar is to become a world leader in innovative education and research.
The centre will be located at Doha’s Education City
“The location of the new centre is only one part of a whole new city devoted to providing excellent opportunities to the people of Qatar and the Gulf,” said D’Arcy.
