Aegean is new Star in the sky
Aegean Airlines has officially become a member of the Star Alliance network.
Aegean’s entry means Greece’s holiday hotspots can now be included in Star Alliance’s Round the World fares, and Star Alliance passengers will earn and redeem frequent flyer points when travelling with Greece’s largest airline by passenger numbers.
In addition, Australia’s Greek community will enjoy the benefits of a global alliance when visiting friends and relatives.
For Star Alliance, Aegean delivers new destinations to the global network and a strategically important south-eastern gateway into Europe.
Jaan Albrecht, CEO Star Alliance, said, “For alliance members, Greece is an important travel market where Athens can be built into a major hub airport with growing connection traffic.â€
Publicly listed Aegean Airlines began operations some 11 years ago and now operates a fleet of 30 aircraft covering 26 routes in Greece and another 28 international routes.
