Aer Lingus poised to accept IAG takeover bid
Aer Lingus is expected to accept the latest bid from British Airways and recommend the €1.3 billion takeover.
The latest offer for the Irish carrier by BA owner, IAG, is believed to be €2.50 a share – the equivalent of €1.3 billion, reports the Sunday Times.
It is the third offer by IAG as previous offers of €2.30 and €2.40 a share were rejected.
Buying Aer Lingus will provide BA with lucrative landing slots at Heathrow.
But the airline still needs to win the backing of Ireland’s government which is a 25% shareholder in the airline. Ryanair also has a 29.8% stake in Aer Lingus,
