Aer Lingus is to re-launch its loyalty programme next spring in partnership with rewards programme Avios.

Avios is owned by IAG, which recently acquired Aer Lingus, and operates the British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus frequent flyer programmes.

The new Aer Lingus programme, to be called AerClub, will enable collect Avios reward points on flights and other travel services including car hire and hotels.

Aer Lingus’s existing loyalty programme, Gold Circle, was launched in 1987 and the airline said it had decided on a revamp after existing members highlights areas for improvement.

The areas identified included more seats on Aer Lingus for purchase and upgrades, greater rewards for short-haul flights, more opportunities to spend points for travel across Irelena,d the UK, Europe and the US and more opportunities with retail and lifestyle partners.

"With AerClub, members will be able to experience an enhanced choice of rewards. They will have greater access to flights on Aer Lingus and will also be able to spend their Avios points on travel and leisure experiences," it said.

Gold Circle Club members will be contacted before the end of November and invited to join AerClub.

A new four-tier membership structure, which replaces the old three-tier system, will give members the opportunity to earn points based on frequency of travel and spend on Aer Lingus.
