Agent charters train for cruise passengers
Barrhead Travel is to charter its first train for cruise passengers leaving from Glasgow for Southampton this weekend.
The independent agent claims the 400 passengers, who are set to join Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas for a cruise of the Italian Mediterranean, can now travel direct with allocated seats and no baggage restrictions.
Catriona Parsons, Barrhead Travel’s cruise marketing director, explained, "With no direct rail service from Scotland to Southampton, getting to the port could be problematic, especially for customers who are unable to fly or who dislike flying.
"We decided early in 2011 to do something to remedy the situation by chartering a train ourselves.
"The popularity of the direct train service has been amazing – we have sold every seat on this departure."
