An online booking system for agents has been developed by Norwegian coastal cruise line Hurtigruten.
Live cabin availability and a real time booking capability are included following months of testing with a team of agents who trialled the system.
The site – www.agents.hurtigruten.com – allows agents to book the full Classic Round Voyage plus the two half voyages north and south on a cruise-only basis.
The line’s Northern Lights programme will be added once it is launched in mid-May.
The site takes agents through a process of picking destination choices and dates of travel.
It then lists the name of the ship on the given date of travel plus available cabin types with applicable prices.
Agents then select the desired option and complete the passenger details.
UK sales and marketing director Kathryn Beadle said: “This is an important development for us and something we have been working hard to offer for a long time.

“We know the importance of giving agents real time availability and our simple to use system ensures that reservations can be made instantly thereby enabling agents the ability to convert more business.
“Our explorer products which include Antarctica, Spitsbergen and Greenland will be added shortly and we are also working on including scheduled flights.”
To begin using the online booking system, agents need to register for a password and username.
