Agents help VAX break record
Attributing it partly to the work of travel agents, Vax VacationAccess announced it had broken processing and capacity records for the first two months of the year. The online leisure-travel booking engine processed over 144 million transactions, booking more than 570,000 gross passengers. The numbers represented a 118% increase over the same period last year, according to VAX owner Trisept Solutions. The company said the number of agents using VAX also continues to grow. Last year, 40,000 agents registered with VAX. At the end of January of 2004, there were 56,000 users for an increase of 45%. Word-of-mouth referrals throughout the travel agent community were one factor cited for its success. The platform also has been popular with vacation tour operators. Report by David Wilkening
