Agents: Mexican and Caribbean top winter trip plans

Wednesday, 03 Dec, 2009 0

Mexican and Caribbean cruises topped the destination charts for winter travel, according to an ASTA Travel Agency Business Trends report.

Eighty-four percent of responding agents said their clients planned a cruise there as a winter vacation.

Other popular winter trips include Hawaii and ski vacations.

Spring travel plans, agents said, will include cruises (77 percent) and trips to the Caribbean (54 percent), Europe (53 percent), Mexico (48 percent) and Hawaii (36 percent).

ASTA conducted the study to assist leisure and corporate agencies in planning for the future, as well as benchmarking their first half 2009 sales performance.

Premium members receive ASTA’s Travel Agency Benchmarking reports as part of their membership. ASTA travel agent members may purchase the entire report for US$99, while ASTA Allied members can get it for US$199. Non-members pay US$299.
