Air Astana agrees to codeshare with Air France- KLM

Saturday, 08 Feb, 2016 0
Kazakhstan carrier Air Asatana has agreed a codesharing pact with Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for flights between Astana and Paris.

Air Astana’s three times a week service will carry the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Air France code for their customers to book through tickets which includes seamless baggage transfers to the final destination.

The codeshare agreement is effective from March 11, the same day Air Astana flights at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport move from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2a for more convenient onward connections on the Air France-KLM network.

"We are delighted to strengthen the cooperation with KLM and Air France as part of our bilateral partnership growth strategy.   The agreement adds the Kazakh capital to the KLM and Air France network and at the same time makes it easier for global travelers to fly with Air Astana to and from our home base using the Paris hub," said Peter Foster, chief executive officer of Air Astana.

Air Astana recently announced annual profits more than doubled in 2015, despite a drop in revenue by 21%, thanks to the decline in fuel prices and better overall operational efficiency.

The airline plans new routes to Mongolia and Iran this year.
