Air Astana orders new Airbus jets
Kazakhstan carrier Air Astana has agreed an order for seven Airbus A320neo family aircraft to support its growth in international markets.
The order is for two A320neo, one A321neo and four A321neo long range jets which will be acquired on a operating leases basis from Los Angeles based Air Lease Corporation.
The first aircraft is scheduled for a spring 2016 delivery with the remainder arriving in 2018 and 2019.
The new planes will serve the domestic network, as well as international services to China, India, Russia and the UAE, the airline said.
"The Airbus A320 has proved to be a tremendous success in service with Air Astana over the past nine years, with enormous passenger appeal, low operating costs, high reliability and an outstanding safety record," said Peter Foster, President and CEO, Air Astana.
"The new generation A320neo family aircraft offer significant improvements to passenger cabin comfort, fuel economy and operating capability, particularly on long range routes to Asia and Europe."
Air Astana this week celebrated winning at the 2015 Skytrax World Airline Awards for’ Best Airline Central Asia / India’ for the fourth year running.
The airline also bagged the ‘Best Airline Staff Service Central Asia/India’ award for the third time in succession.
