Air Astana plans more international routes
Kazakhstan national carrier Air Astana marked the 13th year since its maiden flight with a record operating profit of US$97.7 million in 2014, and news of a number of new international routes added to the network.
New routes will be launched from Astana to Seoul and Tbilisi on June 2, 2015 and the carrier also inaugurated a seasonal weekly service from Kostanay to Hannover, Germany this week.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has earmarked plans to connect major world cities to the Air Astana network.
As part of the government’s ‘100 Steps to Take’ program, new routes to New York, Tokyo and Singapore will be actively sought.
Peter Foster, President of Air Astana said the last year had been pivotal for the airline as it grows its reputation as a major international force in aviation.
"Another remarkably successful year has passed for Air Astana, with continued profitable growth and new service innovations," Foster said.
"Winning the ATW Airline Market Leader of the Year was a proud moment for every one of our 4,000 staff and serves to confirm Air Astana’s proud status as Central Asia’s leading carrier."
