Air France bid farewell to Paris-Orly airport
On March 29, 2026, Air France left Paris-Orly airport. It was an important date in the airline’s history. Orly was the historical gateway of the French national carrier, long before it created its main hub at Charles de Gaulle airport.
The carrier was serving until last week France three largest domestic routes (Orly-Marseille; Orly-Nice and Orly-Toulouse), routes to French Overseas Regions (Guadeloupe, Martinique and La Reunion Island) as well as to Corsica. The carrier just maintains a limited presence to Corsica -at least until 2027- under a public service delegation, subsidized annually with more than 100 million euros as part of territorial continuity.
Domestic routes have now been transferred to Air France-KLM low-cost affiliate Transavia.
On March 29, Transavia France consequently inaugurated its three new domestic routes connecting Paris-Orly to Nice, Marseille, and Toulouse. From this first day of operation, the company has operated 18 flights between these destinations, marking the full launch of its service.
“The launch of our routes to Nice, Marseille, and Toulouse from Paris-Orly marks an important step in the development of our domestic offering. The success encountered from the very first day confirms the relevance of our positioning, based on appropriate frequencies and recognized service quality,” declared Olivier Mazzucchelli, Chairman and CEO of Transavia France, during Transavia inaugural ceremony.
Transavia France now offers a complete domestic service from Paris-Orly:
• Up to 8 flights per day to Nice
• Up to 8 flights per day to Toulouse
• Up to 2 flights per day to Marseille
The carrier also offers daily frequencies from Orly to Biarritz, Montpellier, Perpignan and Toulon in Southern France. In parallel, Air France strengthened its domestic flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle with 12 daily flights to Nice and Toulouse and 10 flights to Marseille.
Transavia offer notably allows for same-day round trips and is based on an optimized experience at Orly, with rates and a product tailored to each traveler, as well as the Flying Blue loyalty program from the Air France – KLM group.
To retain a strong business traveler’s community used to the Air France service, Transavia upgraded as well its product.
“We offer for those passengers with our MAX fare a product with priority check-in and boarding and added flexibility. Eligible passengers can now change their flight for free up to an hour before departure, in order to leave earlier or later the same day to the same destination, without any fees or fare differences. The company thus meets the needs of travelers in case of unforeseen events or a work meeting that ends earlier or, on the contrary, extends“, told Cédric André-Masse, Customer Experience Director Transavia.
Passengers can make this change directly from their My Transavia space on the company’s website or mobile app. It will also be possible, at a later stage, to change flights at the airport, at the self-service check-in kiosks or at the baggage drop counters. This new flexibility is also available for flights to major European cities served by Transavia from Orly. This option is available for passengers choosing the MAX fare or members with Ultimate status and above in Air France-KLM Flying Blue loyalty program. Next for frequent flyers and business travelers will be the opening of Transavia lounge at Orly airport on May 6, 2026.
