Air India gives cabin crew food for thought with new fat-busting menus

Thursday, 17 Sep, 2019 0

Air India is again trying to get its cabin crew to shed a few pounds.

Airline staff have been informed that ‘special low-fat diet meals’ will be served to crew.

The national airline has long been concerned over the weighty issue of flight attendants’ ‘body shape.’

A few years ago it grounded more than 100 staff for being overweight, based on the airline’s height and weight calculation.

Most of these were female and many of these were put on a diet and exercise regime.

The new crew menus will ‘provide light and healthy meal with a home (Indian) touch,’ the airline said in an internal memo.

Meals include a mushroom egg white omelette, vegetarian oats and a besan chilla savoury pancake.

All dishes are ‘low on cholesterol and fat’ an airline spokesman told the Times of India.
