Air India is set to launch Mumbai-Melbourne flights.
It will fly to Melbourne Airport from Mumbai beginning on 15 December, with three flights weekly.
Mumbai flights will be operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft joining existing daily flights between Melbourne and Delhi.
Melbourne welcomed 433,000 Indian travelers in the 12 months to June, more than any other Australian gateway.
“In recent months Melbourne Airport has seen record numbers of Indian visitors and this new service will make it even easier to explore our great state,” said MEL Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos.
“Our data shows that Mumbai is currently Melbourne’s largest international market without non-stop flights, so we expect this service to be very popular.”
