Air NZ announces more cancellations as Dreamliner flight restrictions bite
Air New Zealand has updated its flight schedule with cancelations and retimed flights racking up due to restrictions imposed on Dreamliner flights.
Air NZ announced 15 cancellations next week along with dozens of re-timed flights.
Flight restrictions were imposed on Dreamliner flights fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent engines due to ongoing faults
It restricted the distance a Dreamliner may fly from an airport in the case of an emergency landing.
That has caused the cancellation of many trans-Tasman flights mostly to Perth and some flights to and from Sydney.
Many flights have been retimed or will be operated by different aircraft.
Customers booked on affected flights will be automatically accommodated on other services.
‘We will send through a new e-ticket with your new flight details once you have been rebooked. If you have booked through a travel agent, please reach out to them directly to find out your new travel details,” Air NZ said in a message on its website.
New stricter international rules reduce the distance an affected Dreamliner jet can fly from an airport from 330 minutes to just 140 minutes.
This also affects many of of Air NZ’s international and trans-Pacific routes
