AirAsia dedicated payment app to launch later this year

Sunday, 22 Jun, 2017 0

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said the company’s dedicated payment app will get regulatory approval and launch within three months.

Fernandes was talking at the Paris Air Show and said the cashless e-wallet service would enable full banking and financial services as well being able to process online and mobile flight bookings.

"This would ease the purchasing process in the future, especially when AirAsia aims to achieve a record of 100 million customers flying with us by 2021,"

AirAsia established Singapore based fintech arm Big Pay Pte Ltd earlier this year to handle the launch.

Currently about 25% of AirAsia flight bookings are processed online.

AirAsia already partners with MasterCard offering multi-currency payment in its ‘BIG Prepaid’ program.

That includes a virtual card payment option.
