Airbnb taps Sarah Jessica Parker for NYC tour
Home sharing behemoth Airbnb is finally bringing its ‘Experiences’ local tours to the Big Apple.
The company is debuting about 150 new tours and activities in New York City this week with one in particular catching the eye.
It is an ‘unforgettable shoe-shopping experience’ led by a ‘proud New Yorker’ who happens to be ‘Sex and the City’ siren Sarah Jessica Parker.
For a not inconsiderable $400 per head, guests will get a pair of shoes from her SJP Collection at Bloomingdale’s, spend time at the department store and then go to the New York City Ballet.
The actress will donate all proceeds from the tour to the ballet company, where she is a board member.
Speaking to the AP, Parker said her tour ‘speaks to the very colorful identity that is New York,’ while the ballet is ‘one of the great cultural experiences anybody can have.’
Other social impact activities include a tour by actor and singer Ansel Elgort to his Brooklyn neighbourhood, the cost of which will be donated to Americares hurricane relief efforts.
Airbnb began offering experiences in November and are now available in 40 cities worldwide including San Francisco, Havana, Barcelona and Tokyo.
