Aircraft collision near miss under investigation
The FAA is investigating after an aircraft collision was narrowly avoided at New York JFK Airport.
A Delta Air Lines plane was forced to slam the brakes as it was set to take off.
An American Airlines jet was crossing in front of it.
A Delta passenger described ‘a split second of panic’ as the plane came to an abrupt halt in time.
The Delta plane came to a stop about 1,000 feet from where the American flight crossed the tarmac.
An investigation is underway jointly by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
