Airline rewards loyal staff
In a rare show of generosity from an airline towards its employees, Cathay Pacific is to reward its Hong Kong based staff with a year-end bonus. The carrier said that ”after a particularly difficult year for the Company and Hong Kong” it will pay eligible Hong Kong based employees with a year end bonus of half a month’s salary or HK$7,500 whichever is greater. Cathay is also paying out to employees who helped the company by joining the Special Leave Scheme earlier in the year. This encouraged staff to take unpaid time off so that the company could keep redundancies to a minimum when business declined. The payment will be roughly the amount the person lost by joining the scheme – up to a maximum of three weeks salary.
