Airline shares suffer on oil price rise
Travel and tourism shares had another difficult session yesterday as London’s main equity indices lost ground.
The FTSE 100 index dropped 34 points to end the day at 4962.1, while the FTSE 250 fell back 21.6 points to close at 7231.4.
Airlines had a tough time as oil prices continued to rise: British Airways dropped 5.75p to 273.25p; EasyJet lost 3.25p to close at 221.75p; and Ryanair finished at 404p, down 4.125p.
