Airlines for America names new public relations exec
Airline industry trade group Airlines for America (A4A) has announced the appointment of Melanie Hinton as managing director for airline industry public relations and communications.
Hinton will start work in the new role from January 5.
She will be responsible for airline industry and operations communications, and will report to Jean Medina, A4A’s senior vice president for communications.
"Melanie brings the unique perspective of both a journalist and an aviation association spokesperson to her new role. Throughout her career, she has established herself as someone who excels at being an excellent communicator," Medina said.
She brings almost two decades of experience in journalism and public affairs and most recently served as senior communications manager for the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.
Hinton was also previously the public affairs manager and head of campaigns and events for the British Embassy in Washington, DC and as industry relations coordinator for the American Nursery & Landscape Association.
Hinton spent several years as a journalist at newspapers and trade publications in Pennsylvania and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism/political science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
A4A lobbies on behalf of the American airline industry and its member airlines account for about 90% of all US passenger and cargo traffic.
