Airlines warn of snow disruption
Airlines are warning of continued flight disruption tonight and tomorrow as snow is forecast to hit large parts of the country.
Met Office Yellow Warnings for snow, ice and fog remain in place for today and tomnorrow.
Yesterday, Liverpool and Manchester airports were forced to close runways, impacting departing and arriving flights throughout the day.
British Airways said the adverse weather conditions expected across parts of South East England today are likely to affect some short-haul flights.
"We recognise the uncertainty that the bad weather may be causing customers, and have therefore introduced flexible rebooking options for all customers on short-haul flights flying to/from London Heathrow," it said.
Passengers due to travel on a short-haul service today, regardless of whether their flight is currently showing as operating or not, can rebook to travel up to and including Wednesday February 6.
"We are sorry for the potential disruption to your travel plans and are doing all we can to minimise the effect the poor weather may have on our flights," it said.
Flybe is offering passengers the chance to rebook without fees in light of the adverse weather hitting large parts of the UK.
Customers travelling today (Thursday) and tomorrow can rebook, free of charge, to a different flight for travel within the next seven days to the same or a similar destination, providing there are available seats at the same price as originally paid.
Change fees are being waived but passengers will have to pay any change in fare if it’s higher.
Alternatively, passengers can get a refund on any journeys not used.
"We would apologise in advance if your flight has been cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions." it said.
"Flybe, like every airline, has minimum acceptable weather conditions in which we can safely operate. Please be assured that we will be doing our best to operate our services as normal, taking into consideration any adverse weather conditions."
