AirNZ puts fuel surcharge into the fares

AUCKLAND – Air New Zealand will incorporate fuel surcharges (YQ) into all fares sold ex Australia from March 30.

John Harrison, general manager, Australia, for Air New Zealand said, “Apart from the benefits of simplicity and transparency, Air New Zealand commissions will now be calculated using the fuel inclusive level, providing improved earnings ability for our agency partners when selling Air New Zealand”.

He added, “This change will make Air New Zealand fares fully inclusive with no additional charges for fuel, initial baggage allowance, food, drink or in-flight entertainment on any fare type, making them some of the most competitive in the market.”

Harrison said the fares would make it easier and quicker for consultants to provide their customers with the total cost of air travel, eliminating the need to factor in the complexities around additional expenditure for ancillary items.

A new range of all-inclusive fares have been distributed to the trade for sales effective from March 30, 2009.
