Airport expansion decision delayed again
Heathrow has re-emerged as the clear frontrunner for airport expansion but the decision looks likely to be delayed for one more week.
The Government had been expected to make an announcement today, with sources telling the BBC that a new runway at Heathrow is the clear favourite.
But it is believed Theresa May wants a bit more time to mull over the decision with her Cabinet before making it official.
The decision has already been delayed several times, causing much frustration to the travel industry.
It’s been 18 months since the Airports Commission recommended a third runway at Heathrow.
A meeting has reportedly been set for Tuesday October 25 and a decision is due the same day.
But even when the decision is made, the plans are expected to be met with legal challenges and protests from environmental groups.
