Airport worker injured after falling from aircraft cabin
A ground staff member at Jakarta Airport is recovering in hospital after fall onto the tarmac from a TransNusa aircraft.
The incident was caught on camera at the airport.
The staffer had just passed paperwork to the cabin crew and stepped on the mobile stairs to descend.
Unfortunately, just a second earlier, the mobile stair platform was wheeled away from the aircraft.
The man then fell several metres to the tarmac.
According to local media he was still in hospital at the weekend but recovering well.
There have been no details about injuries sustained but they were not life-threatening.
Airport and airline officials have started an investigation.
“The incident occurred due to miscommunication between the flight coordinator officer and the passenger boarding stairs officer,” the airline said in a statement.
“TransNusa and PT JAS (ground handler) ensured that the officer involved has received medical treatment and is in good condition.”
