Alaska Air, Iceland resume code sharing pact

Alaska Airlines and Icelandair have entered into a code sharing and frequent flyer pact.
 
Subject to approvals, the agreement will take effect on November 1.
 
Customers of each airline will benefit from through ticketing and one-stop check-in with baggage delivered to its final destination.
 
Loyalty members can earn miles on each carrier and elite-level members receive reciprocal club lounge benefits.
 
"This new partnership with Icelandair is another example of how Alaska is raising the bar to allow its Mileage Plan members to travel and earn miles to all corners of the globe through a diverse network of international carriers," said Andrew Harrison, Alaska Airlines’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer. 
 
"Icelandair offers our frequent fliers a unique option for flying and earning miles to Europe from our Seattle, Portland and Anchorage gateways."
 
Icelandair serves 16 North American cities and offers connections in Iceland to more than 20 European destinations including Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, London and Paris.
 
To kick off the partnership Alaska Airlines is offering its Mileage Plan members double miles on Icelandair flights until December 15, 2015.
