Alaska Airlines adding new Hawaii route

Thursday, 20 Jun, 2018 0

Alaska Airlines is adding more service from Northern California to Hawaii.

It will launch the only nonstop flight between Sacramento and Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island starting on December 20.

The route will operate three times a week on Boeing 737 jets.

The route will take to six the number of Californian cities serving the Hawaiian Islands after Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland.

In all, that adds up to 10 West Coast departure points with an average of 29 daily departures.

"We know our customers love Hawaii, even in sunny California. That’s a big reason we’re excited to add this new connection between Northern California and the Big Island," said John Kirby, vice president of capacity planning and alliances at Alaska Airlines.

Mark Haneke, manager of air service development and marketing for Sacramento International Airport said: "This new service to Kona marks our airport’s first scheduled service to the Big Island, and enhances the portfolio of nonstop service between Sacramento and the islands."
