Alaska Airlines cracks down on anti-maskers
Alaska Airlines is tightening its face mask policy on flights and throughout the airport.
From today, 7 August, it will accept no excuses for not wearing a mask, including any medical reasons.
"Cloth masks or face coverings will be required on all flights, at ticket counters, throughout gate areas, and any other location where Alaska conducts business," the airline said in a website message.
It requires all passengers flying on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air aged over two years old to wear masks without exceptions.
"We all need to look out for each other during this health emergency, and the best way we can do that – and prevent the spread of the virus – is to simply wear a mask or face covering when we’re around each other," said Max Tidwell, Alaska Airlines’ VP of safety and security.
Masks will be handed out for those who forget to bring one if supplies allow.
"If a guest arrives at the airport and refuses to wear a face covering, they will be denied boarding," the carrier said.
