Alitalia unions urged to cooperate over latest rescude bid
Unions at Alitalia are being urged to start negotiations with the group of Italian investors who have made a rescue bid for the troubled airline.
The investors, led by Piaggio CEO Roberto Colaninno, have made a last minute bid for some of Alitalia’s assets after the airline filed for bankruptcy on Friday.
The nine unions representing Alitalia workers said they want to be sure of the plan’s merits before starting any discussions.
Unions were blamed for the unsuccessful sale of the airline to Air France-KLM earlier this year.
The Italian Government has warned that unless they cooperate this time, they will have to liquidate the airline.
