Alligator drags toddler into lagoon at Disney resort
A 2-year-old boy was dragged into a lagoon by an alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa last night.
A 50-strong search team is still looking for the boy, who was with his family on the beach of the lagoon when the alligator attacked.
The father went into the water to try and save his son but the alligator dragged the boy into the water.
It is believed the incident happened during a popular movie night at the luxury hotel, which is owned by Disney and it one stop from the Magic Kingdom.
The hotel overlooks the manmade Seven Seas Lagoon which is popular for fishing and boat trips.
According to local reports, there are no signs warning of alligators in the lagoon but there are signs warning against swimming in it.
Disney issued a statement saying it was devastated by the tragic incident.
"Our thoughts are with the family, and we are helping the family and doing everything we can to assist law enforcement," it said.
The family of five are from the state of Nebraska.
