Amadeus deal shows European rail in demand

Wednesday, 29 Oct, 2009 0

Amadeus has highlighted the growing interest from travellers into Europe in rail travel by inking a deal with Rail Europe that will offer seamless ticketing.

Indian and Asia Pacific agencies will shortly be able to sell Rail Europe tickets through Amadeus Selling Platform in much the same way that they integrate car hire and hotel books.

The move should improve revenue opportunities for the agents as well as providing a more seamless service to clients who need rail transport after a flight into Europe.

Head of Amadeus Rail Diane Bouzebiba said: “We are witnessing the renaissance of rail in Europe. Travellers coming to Europe are demanding more and more that rail is part of their trip. They see the benefits of rail in terms of comfort and speed, and also because it brings more to travel than just the destination.

She added: “It is essential for Amadeus to provide our travel agencies with the ability to meet demand in the most productive way possible. Our partnership with Rail Europe will strive to improve travel agents access to rail content, therefore generating additional revenue opportunities and extending the level of service.”

Rail Europe represents 35 European railroads and provides and masters all the booking process, from inventory to payment in multiple currencies and forms of payment.
