Amadeus puts emphasis on non-air bookings
Amadeus says bookings through its online cruise solution are up 300% year-on-year, signalling a move away from a focus on air bookings.
Around 250 UK agents use Amadeus Cruise to book holidays with various cruise operators including Carnival Cruise Lines, P&O Cruises, Fred Olsen Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
According to the company, the reason behind the surge in bookings made through Amadeus Cruise is the time savings agents can make by using the product and the access to real-time information.
Amadeus UK managing director Arnaud Debuchy said: “Although air bookings have traditionally been the focus of the GDS, Amadeus is placing increasing emphasis on solutions for the non-air side of the market as this is what the industry has been crying out for.”
The cruise solution is offered as part of the Amadeus suite of products or as a stand-alone product to use with a different GDS.
