Amadeus to distribute Star Cruises in the UK
Amadeus has signed a global distribution agreement with Asia Pacific-based Star Cruises.
Amadeus UK will be the first GDS to have Star Cruises available in its system. Star Cruises’ content was launched in the UK in early August.
Star Cruises has a combined fleet of 20 ships in service, operating cruises to over 200 destinations in Asia-Pacific, North and South America, Hawaii, Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Mediterranean, Bermuda and the Antarctica under the Star Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, NCL America, Orient Lines and Cruise Ferries brands.
The introduction of Star Cruises into the GDS in the UK is a timely development for its expanding travel trade partners in the UK.
Star Cruises started offering cruise itineraries for the first time in the Eastern Mediterranean from early June with the basing of its ship in Valletta, Malta.
“The agreement with Amadeus UK will complement our ongoing sales and marketing activities in the UK in terms of the enhanced connectivity and widening the reach with travel trade partners in UK,” said Jean Teo, Star Cruises senior vice president, sales and marketing.
“It will also provide a more user-friendly and seamless system for booking cabins in the UK.”
