American Airlines completes Wi-Fi installation milestone
American Airlines has completed a milestone of installing satellite broadband Wi-Fi to its entire mainline narrow body fleet of 700 jets.
American completed installing the Wi-Fi system to its wide body fleet last year, and says it has taken less than two years to fully complete the network-wide program.
It allows customers to stream video upload and download files, and watch for free selected Live TV channels.
AA is the only US airline to offer live TV on international flights.
"In less than two years, we completed broadband internet installation on our entire mainline fleet and we will continue setting new standards to show our customers we value the time they spend with us," said Kurt Stache, SVP for marketing, loyalty and sales.
American says it is in the process of putting power outlets at every seat and will add tablet holders at most seats on its narrow body fleet for hands-free entertainment.
