American Airlines employee nabbed at airport with stolen gun
An American Airlines employee is facing charges after being caught this week with a stolen handgun.
Elvira Thomas, 62, works at the American ticket counter at Charlotte Airport but was off duty at the time.
She was stopped at TSA screening at the airport during the busy July 4th holiday.
Thomas has been charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and a misdemeanor possession of a firearm on city-owned property.
The airline is taking the matter ‘very seriously.’
"This team member has been placed on administrative suspension pending the outcome of the investigation, which includes the suspension of all travel privileges," the airline said.
"At American Airlines, we have an unwavering commitment to the safety and security of our customers and team members."
