American Airlines expanding upcoming Phoenix-London service to year-round
American Airlines will expand its upcoming nonstop Phoenix to London Heathrow route to year-round service, citing strong customer demand from Europe.
The originally scheduled seasonal service from March 31 to October 26 will now operate throughout the year.
It will be served by three-class Boeing 777-200ER planes.
"(There is) a lot of unexpected demand from the rest of the world coming into Phoenix and we take that all as a sign that reflects Phoenix’s continued economic power," said Vasu Raja, vice president of network and schedule planning.
Demand has come from both leisure and business markets, Raja said.
"Phoenix, for us, is a really critical part of our network."
