American Airlines names HR senior vice president
American Airlines has promoted Patrick O’Keeffe to the role of senior vice president – people.
Effective June 1, O’Keeffe will head the global human resources team across talent acquisition and development, team member training, and diversity.
He was most recently vice president – information technology, one of many roles he has held in a 28-year career at AA.
"There is no work more important to American’s future than the work underway to build a culture that supports our frontline team, and there’s no better leader at American who embodies the right skills to lead this work than Patrick," said Elise Eberwein, American’s executive vice president – people and communications.
"Patrick is a team builder who considers all viewpoints, and he has a proven track record of leading multi-departmental teams to successfully complete very complex projects."
O’Keeffe began his career at American in market planning and held positions in sales planning, customer research and onboard service before moving to IT operations in 2004 in leadership postions in customer technology and revenue and planning technology.
