American Airlines signs codeshare with Brazil’s GOL
American Airlines inked a codeshare agreement with Brazil’s GOl.
The tie-up will see more daily US-South America flights than any other airline partnership, they say.
It is American’s response to Delta Air Lines’ aggressive move in the market, when it sidestepped American to seal a deal with LATAM.
"When this is approved by Brazilian and US authorities, GOL’s new codeshare will allow its customers to connect to more than 30 destinations in the USA," GOL said.
The codeshare pact centers on GOL’s hubs in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Fortaleza which will connect with American’s main South American gateways in Miami and Orlando.
GOL’s customers will get access to more than 30 destinations in the US while American’s network will be expanded with new destinations such as the Brazilian cities Curitiba and Foz do Iguacu as well as the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion.
"This will strengthen GOL’s presence in international markets and accelerate our long-term growth," said GOL CEO Paulo Kakinoff.
The codeshare pact integrates seamless ticketing, check-in and baggage check on a single ticket itinerary as well as pairing the respective frequent flier programs.
GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes offers 750 daily flights to more than 100 destinations in Brazil and in South America, the Caribbean and the US.
