American Airlines taps Uber for airport pickups

Thursday, 12 Feb, 2016 0
American Airlines’ customers will soon have the option for fast track Uber bookings for trips to and from the airport thanks to a partnership agreed between the two companies.

A ‘Remind me to Uber’ button will appear on e-ticket confirmations while the American Airlines app will display the nearest Uber pickup point at 11 US airports.

"By working together, we can provide a service that allows customers to request their Uber ride to the airport in step with their itinerary and know where to meet their Uber driver after their flight lands," Scott Hinshaw, American’s director of partner marketing, said in a release.

The app will direct customers to waiting Uber rides at New York’s JFK and LaGuardia airports, Los Angeles, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, San Francisco, Washington Reagan National, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Charlotte and San Jose.

Elite Executive Platinum members will receive $25 off an Uber airport ride and customers using their AAdvantage Aviator branded MasterCard will get bonus points.

Uber has previously partnered with other airlines, including United, Virgin America, and KLM.
