American Express to acquire restaurant booking platform Resy
American Express has announced an upcoming acquisition of restaurant reservation service Resy.
Founded five years ago, Resy has about 4,000 restaurant partners in 10 countries and is an existing strategic partner of Amex.
Resy allows venues to manage reservations booked by an estimated 10 million diners a month.
Financial details were not disclosed.
According to Chris Cracchiolo, American Express’s senior vice president for global loyalty and benefits, it decided to buy Resy several months ago and the acquisition will help Resy expand in new markets.
"Putting Resy and American Express together will give Resy valuable scale," said Ben Leventhal, Resy’s co-founder and CEO, who will remain in charge of the business.
It marks a further push into the hospitality industry for Amex which bought travel-assistant app Mezi and airport lounge booking platform LoungeBuddy.
